Know Christ, Grow in Christ and Show Christ @ Light House

Light House, is a church made up of multiple-nations who love worshipping Jesus together.

The name Light House (not ‘lighthouse’) is taken from Matthew 5:14 which speaks of being a ‘light’ to the world; like a lit-up house on a hill, at night, visible to all.

Our vision is:

  • To Know Christ, Grow in Christ and Show Christ.
  • Know Christ: we are committed to walking with Jesus on a daily basis so that we… ‘….may know Him’ (Phil 3:10). To know Christ and to make Him known is our greatest desire. We do this primarily through the reading, study and contemplation of scripture along with prayer so that we not only know Him intellectually but also know Him experientially.
  • Grow in Christ: we are committed to growing in Christ both individually and collectively. Individually, we grow in Christ through the means of Spiritual practices; daily Bible reading, prayer, sabbath and silence and solitude. Corporately, we grow together through our weekly gatherings, be it on a Sunday morning, around a dinner table, or during a mid-week meeting. We believe each follower of Jesus has received a ‘gift’ from the Holy Spirit to exercise, develop and grow in …and we are keen to ‘stir up one another to love and good works (Heb 10:24).
  • Show Christ: as recipients of grace and in accord with the Great Commission (Matt 28), we seek to present Christ through our words, deeds and finances in order to advance God’s kingdom and extend His invitation for all to come to know Him. We do this weekly as the church gathers on a Sunday and scatters throughout the week. We also show Christ, in Harlow, as we partner with other churches to share the good news of the Gospel in our town.

Mission

We support Christian missionaries and organisations, local and global, who are particularly supporting those who are marginalized or suffering persecution for the sake of the Gospel. The writer to the Hebrews, reminds us:

Remember those in prison, as though you were in prison with them, and the mistreated, as though you yourselves were suffering bodily.

Hebrews 13:3

Please look into the mission organisations we support and prayerfully consider supporting them in prayer and also financially, perhaps a one-off or regular payment – giving whatever is on your heart (2 Cor 9:7).

Our History

On Sunday 4th January 2009, Light House was birthed! It was an amalgamation of three local churches, and their leaders, joining together – which included CRC Harlow, Hope Church and Kingsmoor Community Church, whose building we continue to gather in.
